The Challenge
Xiphos creates processors that are embedded on spacecraft, including satellite buses, rockets, landers, rovers, robotics, and space stations. When engineering leadership wanted to revamp their engineering process to be more Agile, they brought me in to level up their team.
AN Agile Foundations Workshop
I led a two-day Agile Workshop for a team of 10+ Xiphos engineers (software, hardware, FPGA) and project managers, with the goal of getting their whole team on the same page about the foundations of Agile.
The attendees came from a variety of disciplines and experiences with Agile, so it was important to make the training as accessible for an Agile novice to a seasoned Scrum Master.
I worked closely with the Director of Engineering to tailor the workshop to Xiphos’ needs, and to make sure the information I was teaching was adding to the larger changes he was implementing (rather than sending mixed messages).
The result was a two-day crash course on the foundations of Agile, with activities ranging from presenting basic concepts to discussions to running across the room throwing paper airplanes. And most importantly, the whole team left the workshop energized and on the same page about how they were going to work moving forward.
